US and South Korea Begin Joint Military Exercises

The US and South Korea has begun their joint military exercises in the sea of Japan despite North Korea’s warnings that the exercises could trigger a nuclear war in the region. North Korea has been protesting the military exercises between the two allies and has been threatening to carry out a “sacred war” if the exercises will push through. North Korea has issued a new warning on Saturday that it would respond with “powerful nuclear deterrence” to the joint military exercises. DPRK sees the military exercises as a prelude to an attack against them. North Korea’s National Defence Commission has issued this statement Saturday:

“The army and people of the DPRK will legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises to be staged by the US and the South Korean puppet forces.”

The US state department spokesman PJ Crowley answered North Korea’s statement with this one:

“What we need from North Korea is fewer provocative words and more constructive action.”

US and South Korea Begin Joint Military Exercises

Tension between the two Koreas has intensified after a South Korean warship was sank in March by a torpedo that is suspected to be coming from the North Korean side. But lately some doubts about North Korea’s role in the sinking of the ship emerged; some politicians in South Korea, especially those who are in the opposition, say that it is quite difficult, if not impossible, North Korea to carry out the sinking of the ship. North Korea is impoverished and it has no capability of sneaking into South Korean waters without detection and escaping without a trace after attacking.
