Jimmy Butler is heading to Philadelphia, Dario Saric and Robert Covington are headed to Minnesota and NBA Twitter has some thoughts. "We're excited to get Jimmy in here".

The full trade, per reports: The Sixers get Butler and injured second-year center Justin Patton in exchange for Saric, Covington, veteran Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick.

According to a report by Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the decision makers in Minnesota had three potential deals on the table before they ultimately agreed on Butler moving to the City of Brotherly Love.

Simmons said there is "a sad side to it", referring to the departures of popular teammates who helped the 76ers advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals last season.

The Timberwolves have been a disaster this season with Butler openly vilifying team-mates as soft and demanding a trade, and with the team losing all five games on their latest road trip. Embiid and Simmons have been the established stars on this team, but Butler tends to dominate franchises so it will be interesting to see how they feel taking a back seat to Butler.

The trade will reportedly be finalized on Monday on a call with the league office. I just think that, man, whenever you win, everything takes care of itself.

The fact that the Timberwolves turned down four future first-rounders for Butler from the Houston Rockets and then traded him for no future firsts confused some people.
