The iPhone XR, the most low-ranking member of Apple's expanding X family of devices, is exactly what the company needs to revive its sluggish smartphone sales.

The leak, discovered in new product page listings of the Apple.com sitemap by the site All Things How, appears to confirm the three new phones will be called the iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR.

The news was met with instant ridicule across social media, as Twitter users likened it to everything from energy drinks to commentary on its "excessive" cost.

Even if you're not springing for a new iPhone, customers will be able to download iOS 12 starting Monday September 17. iOS 12 features new Animojis, customized Memoji and a much-anticipated time management feature to help people use their devices less. Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have an OLED screen, a premium display quality which was used on the last year's iPhone X.

Apple announced two new additions to its iPhone line, the XS and the XS Max. Both the Xs and Xs Max are fitted with a dual 12-megapixel camera arrangement, dual-SIM support and can be equipped with up to 512GB of storage. In fact, features have been taken away - there is now no iPhone with Touch ID.

According to Apple, the new chip's eight-core design allows it to complete 5 trillion operations per second, compared to 600 billion operations per second with the previous A11.

White House adviser admits Trump got his facts wrong in economy tweet
The U.S.is now its 10th year of economic growth, and in its longest period of growth with 95 straight months of job creation. Hassett said he suspected someone "added a 0" to the fact as it was "conveyed" to the president.

The iPhone XS will come in three different storage options (listed below) and pricing starts at $999.

Also featuring an all-screen design, it actually has a larger screen than the iPhone XS, coming up to 6.1-inches.

Apple is calling it a Liquid Retina HD display and they say it's the most advanced LCD in the industry.

Those needing the (costly) upgrades to their current iPhones can start pre-ordering the iPhone XS and iPhone XS tomorrow, and both will be available in stores on Sept 21.

The phones are updates to last year's iPhone X ("10"), which marks the 10th anniversary of the smartphone - stretching the screen while keeping the overall handset size at or near that of previous models. It's also updating the portrait mode feature so users can fine-tune each image.

Additionally, iPhone XS and XS Max have increased water resistance, enduring up to the depth of 2 metres for up to 30 minutes.

Apple worldwide marketing senior vice-president Phil Schiller revealed the company's new flagship device would be the first iPhone to feature a 6.5-inch screen, making it even bigger than Samsung's famously large Galaxy Note 9.
