Everton have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Colombia defender Yerry Mina for 30.25m euros (£27.19m), while signing Mina's team-mate Andre Gomes on loan.

However, as Barcelona signed three South American players this summer, it became abundantly clear that Mina will become an expendable, with his departure only a matter of time.

Everton coach Marco Silva finally convinced Gomes to join and he has had his medical for the Premier League side in Barcelona.

While Mina had no future in the first team at the Camp Nou in the short term, there is a feeling there that the Colombia worldwide could greatly improve in the future.

The 23-year-old only joined Barcelona from Palmeiras in the January transfer window.

By contrast, fellow promoted side Cardiff City had endured a poor transfer window in the eyes of many after missing out on several targets, but they at least bolstered their midfield options with Harry Arter and Victor Camarasa on Thursday.

"I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me", he told evertontv.

"Every discussion we've had was very important in making me feel his confidence about my game. This is a great opportunity for me", said Mina. "I am also determined to do my best for Everton".
