Idris Elba has given a cryptic and playful update after a week of renewed speculation about him becoming the next James Bond.

In a report from the United Kingdom publication The Daily Star, director Antoine Fuqua says that Broccoli believes it is time to diversify the role and that if it does not happen now, "it will happen eventually".

"My name's Elba, Idris Elba", he tweeted. Is he just feeling some old school hip hop this morning?

Hilariously though, fans still managed to see Bond hints in an accompanying snap of group Public Enemy (whose members have included Flavor Flav - remember him from weird Channel 5 reality show The Farm in 2005?), performers of the tune. A clock is round. Two round clocks can be called double 0. I envy the unfettered excitement you must have felt.

Makes flawless sense. Get the vodka martinis poured out ready and waiting for him. Numb, but not entirely immune it would seem in light of today's message.

This time, a report from United Kingdom publication The Daily Star has stirred excitement. He doesn't look 45.

"When Sean Connery stepped into the scene he was a rough old dude". "Who wants to do that?" "Okay - yes, I will do it".

Others in the mix including Tom Hardy (known for playing Bane in the Dark Knight Rises and a host of other action roles), James Norton (known for British TV series Happy Valley and Grantchester), and Sam Heughan (the Scottish actor who starred as Jamie in TV drama Outlander).
