The ninth season will jump forward in time following the events of the group's All Out War with Negan and his Saviors and will highlight a changing infrastructure in the physical world as Rick works to build the more peaceful utopia that his late son, Carl, envisioned. As for Rick when season 9 picks up, Andrew teased: "He's been through a lot of stresses and strains. This has been the most extraordinary, awesome and useful experience of my career".

"There are a couple practical considerations", executive producer David Alpert told HuffPost about selecting the shots we see in the Season 9 trailer. Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 12.
