A USA service member was shot dead and two US service members wounded after an Afghan soldier turned his weapon against coalition forces in Afghanistan late Saturday, the coalition forces said Sunday.
A Saturday statement by the Resolute Support Mission said that two other USA service members were wounded but in stable condition.
Officials said the incident is being investigated, and no further details were immediately available.
In the meantime, Afghan officials have told AFP that the incident has taken place in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.
"A patriot Afghan soldier opened fire on Americans in Uruzgan airport killing and wounding at least four American invaders", the militant group said.

This is the third combat fatality in Afghanistan this year. An investigation into the attack is underway.
Around 16,000 troops from US, NATO and other partner countries are deployed in Afghanistan.
"Green on blue" attacks, where Afghan soldiers or those purporting to be Afghan soldiers attack troops from the US and its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation partners, have occurred regularly in the long-running way, as have "green on green" attacks of Afghan soldiers turning against their comrades.
Currently, there are about 14,000 USA troops in Afghanistan, providing the main component of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation mission there to support and train local forces.
The U.S. soldiers have not been identified. They did not indicate a specific location where the attack occurred.
The last insider attack that resulted in a United States casualty occurred in June a year ago.
