Officials have yet to confirm a motive for Thursday's attack, saying the suspect has not been cooperative in providing information to investigators.

According to court records and the Gazette's 2011 reporting, Ramos tried to befriend a former high school classmate online, and then began harassing her when she spurned his advances. Ramos has not cooperated with authorities, police said.

Ramos - who has a degree in computer engineering and worked for the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, according to court documents - pled guilty to criminal harassment.

Ramos wrote he was only told there was a "suitability" concern.

Though born in Tennessee, Belichick was raised in Annapolis, where his father was an assistant football coach at the U.S. Naval Academy. But by all accounts, Ramos had a specific, longstanding grievance against the paper.
