The loyal pup risked his snout to protect his owner from being bitten by a rattlesnake.
That's what Paula Godwin wrote in a recent Facebook post where she praised her dog, Todd, for saving her from being bitten by a rattlesnake.
Todd, her "hero of a puppy", courageously jumped in front of its owner's leg where she "surely would have got bit".
Money is now being raised on Todd's behalf to provide financial help to other dogs bitten by poisonous snakes in the area.
'But my hero of a puppy Todd saved me. Within 20 minutes, she said, they were at an animal hospital, where Todd received anti-venom.
In a more-recent Facebook post, Godwin provided an update on Todd's recovery saying, "Thank you so much seriously wow Todd is recovering so well this was yesterday at the park".
Godwin wrote in a Facebook post that she "literally nearly stepped on a rattlesnake". "Please say a little prayer for my sweet hero", she said. She later shared photos showing the golden retriever with a facial wound.

Paula said of the fundraiser: "Todd wants to help more puppies that may need help".
The fearless pup is expected to fully recover.
"It was a handsome morning", Godwin wrote in a Facebook post.
She added "Your kindness and support is truly a blessing".
"We don't deserve dogs", one user stated, while another stated "dogs are the best people".
