The Manchester City captain sustained what is thought to be a groin injury during the 0-0 draw at King Baudouin Stadium.

Belgium have named their official 23-man squad for the World Cup and, as it transpires, the mattresses lied to us.

What is your prediction for Belgium in this World Cup? Kompany, fitness permitting, is still a colossus, while Tottenham Hotspur duo Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are among the best defenders in the Premier League.

Kompany has been included but his participation in the tournament is still in doubt, with Martinez confirming he will wait until the last possible moment before deciding whether or not to replace the 32-year-old with Laurent Ciman, who is on standby.

She said the initiative should bring down the number of different European Union weapon systems from 180 to "about 30". In another nod to Macron , Merkel said she had a "positive view" of his joint European military intervention force.

"Vincent Kompany is a true leader", Martinez told the media.

"Until 24 hours before (the Panama match), we can still make a replacement", said Martinez. "His leadership is essential for us". But Tunisia (another of England and Belgium's World Cup opponents) had faced Portugal earlier this week and had posed a far greater threat than anything Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard could muster here. "We have two number 9's and Batshuayi and Romelu Lukaku have taken those positions".

It was defences on top for the majority of Saturday's clash of the European heavyweights at the King Baudouin Stadium, goalkeepers Beto and Thibaut Courtois untested during a flat first half.

Former Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj was a surprise inclusion, while Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke was one of five players to miss out, as well as goalkeeper Matz Sels, Watford's Christian Kabasele and Jordan Lukaku.
