Saints RB Mark Ingram suspended 4 games for PED violation

The league has not released details about whether Ingram has tested positive for a performance enhancing drug or simply a banned masking agent. The suspension means that Ingram's first game in 2018 won't come until October, when the Saints host the Redskins for a "Monday Night Football" showdown.

The New Orleans Saints are expecting another productive year from running backs Mark Ingram (#22) and Alvin Kamara (#41). Ingram and Kamara made league history in 2017 by becoming the first backfield teammates to each surpass 1,500 yards from scrimmage.

"Mark Ingram has been around the facility during conditioning and he won't be around for OTAs, source says", Rapoport tweeted.

Kamara rushed for 728 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry, and also amassed 81 receptions for five more scores in his rookie campaign.

When Woods and Mickelson go head-to-head this week, with Fowler rounding out the super-group, we'll all be a witness. Mickelson won earlier this year at the WGC event in Mexico, halting a five-year-drought after his 2013 British Open.

Even if the suspension gets reduced to three games, by appeal, Ingram would still miss the Week 3 road clash with the Falcons. The Saints may also elect to dip into the available free agents to add depth behind Kamara if they aren't comfortable with the current grouping. He will still be eligible for all of the Saints offseason programs, training camp, and preseason games.

Ingram was drafted by the Saints in the first round in 2011 and has established himself as the team's lead back over the past few years.

He has 5,362 rushing yards, 1,428 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns during his seven-year career.
