Big Read, Cinco de Mayo hold celebrations at Carson City Library

Gonzaga University warned students that "non-Mexican individuals" should keep from cultural appropriation that often happens on Cinco De Mayo.

Featured events at the festival include the chihuahua races Saturday at 2 p.m., the taco eating contest Sunday at 2 p.m. and the low rider auto show on Colfax all weekend long.

More than 100,000 people are expected to head to Old Town to enjoy the non-stop music and live entertainment.

The message concluded with a link where students were encouraged to study and employ "alternative ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo". The dual event celebration lasts until 4 p.m.

Just down the street from Threes Brewing, The Douglass bar is joining in on "Kentucky Derby De Mayo day". Free food and drinks will be provided. $40 suggested donation. Must be on the guest list in advance to enter.
