On the same weekend that the Galaxy S9 is launching, Samsung's 2017 flagship is getting an update to Android 8.0 Oreo.

Samsung's Turkey website had previously revealed that Galaxy Note 8 will start receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update from March 30.

For the uninformed, Project Treble is simple Google's solution to fixing the fact that Android software updates take way too long to reach your mobile devices. Some of these are colorful media notification, Samsung keyboard, and improvement in biometric functions, dual messenger, and an entire modified "About" section. As per the information on those websites, the smartphone was supposed to receive the update starting on March 30th, 2018. The company has not given the schedule of the update for different variants of the device.

The new variable aperture rear camera introduced in this model, which can switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 for one sensor, is revealed to use a pair of rotating rings that move into place when required.
