Arizona Cardinals to sign quarterback Sam Bradford

Carrera's path to the majors began when he first signed with New York Mets as an amateur free agent in April 2005 out of Guiria, Venezuela.

Arizona went 8-8 in 2017, and after the season ended, both head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer announced their retirement.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cardinals have moved fast to ink a possible short-term solution to their quarterback situation by agreeing to a one-year, $20 million deal with Sam Bradford.

Responding to news of Bradford being slated to make $20 million this year in Arizona, Weddle wrote on Twitter that the contract was stupid. They turned down his request last summer for a one-year, $4 million extension.

The Heisman Trophy victor was drafted by St. Louis with the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. And Bradford himself is seen as a major injury risk after playing in all of two games due to a bum knee last season.

Does Valspar second place prove Tiger Woods is back in business?
Tiger Woods was one shot away from a chance to win, and the PGA Tour had its largest television audience in five years. It was the closest Woods has come to winning in almost five years.

Bradford has a career completion percentage of 62.5-percent.

Case Keenum, who replaced him and never gave up the starting job, is now set to be usurped by Cousins in Minnesota and subsequently join the Denver Broncos as the quarterback picture becomes clearer around the NFL. He'll become the Cardinals' presumed starter as early as Wednesday since they don't now have any quarterbacks under contract. He was traded to Minnesota in September 2016 and started 15 games that season after Teddy Bridgewater's knee injury.

In short, he could be the ideal bridge quarterback for a team that'll pick No. 15 overall in April's draft. He missed half of the 2013 season and all of 2014 after tearing his ACL in back-to-back years.

Bradford is not a stop-gap solution, he's a guy who will likely spend the season battling injuries while the backup quarterback gets ready to fill in.
