The online giant, however, is not interested in maintaining the Toys "R" Us brand, but it will use the stores for its own purposes. Toys R Us has more than 700 stores in the US.
The company that bought KB Toys, which closed several years ago, is reportedly in talks to open pop-up locations in malls this holiday season. Those closures will put 31,000 people out of work and hurt toy manufacturers that depended on the national retailer for distribution.
"We're just as excited about the toys as the kids who come in", said Chip Honer, head of game development at Legacy Toys.

Toys R Us' collapse is in part due to growing pressure from Amazon, which has disrupted the entire sector by offering numerous same items at significantly lower prices and with the convenience of delivery. It has no plan to keep the brand name, though, according to Bloomberg.
