YouTube Go, the company's offline viewing app, expands to 130 countries

Google launched YouTube Go in India a year ago as a data-light version of its video sharing platform, and since then has brought the app to an additional 14 countries, including Indonesia, Thailand and Nigeria. The expansion comes after more than a year of beta availability in India and 14 other Asian and African nations. Nevertheless, the new feature bridges the gap between the standard YouTube app and the YouTube Go app since a High-Quality video download option is already available on the former.

YouTube is putting its live-TV streaming service in front of millions of potential viewers this week, in the first major test of its product - just days before Super Bowl LII, no less. YouTube also admits that this feature won't be ideal, and that users and publishers can provide feedback about the flags through YouTube's own feedback form.

The adjustments could result in a different culture around YouTube in some areas compared with in the United States and Western Europe, where amateur videomakers have amassed large followings. In contrast, only three of the six supported accounts may be used for streaming simultaneously, though the limit still shouldn't inhibit most households.

A feature being rolled out in the U.S. displays notices below videos uploaded by news broadcasters which receive government or public money, according to a blog post by YouTube News senior product manager Geoff Samek.

Some design changes have also been made to make it easier for you to access the "Share Nearby" feature right from the homepage. This includes the ability to share downloaded videos in a higher-quality format, as well as the ability to customize the content that appears on the app's home screen.
