Most of the unarmed soldiers and their family members were rescued by the Army after cornering the attackers.
While the minister did not specify the group affiliation of the militants who carried out the attack, officials said Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were behind the terror strike.
Well, reports are coming that Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists attacked Sunjuwan Army camp on Saturday and tried to make violence with their attack. Militants number is not known as of now.
At one soldier has been killed and seven others injured, including the daughter of one Army personnel. Two of them are critical. 2 injured, one Hawaldar & his daughter. Ashraf Mir were killed. The area was cordoned off and schools were closed. The attack could have been worse given the fact that the residential area has a school inside as well. Great effort was made by the Army to rescue the families of the soldiers.
Earlier reports had said a colonel had been injured.
Till evening, the terrorists were holed up in a few houses and the army was trying to evacuate all non-combatants before hitting back.
Officials suspect four to five militants have managed to enter the highly guarded camp to take on army personnel present there. Firstpost has reported that they also hurled a grenade at the camp.
