The massive network of solar panels and batteries will create the world's largest "virtual power plant" (VPP), an asset that Frontier Economics' Managing Director, Danny Price says will slash household energy bills across the entire state.

The scheme is part of a tie-up between the South Australian government and Tesla, Elon Musk's business creation.

"We will use people's homes as a way to generate energy for the South Australian grid, with participating households benefitting with significant savings in their energy bills".

The State Government has unveiled a plan to roll out a network of at least 50,000 home solar and battery systems across South Australia, working together to form the world's largest Virtual Power Plant. "South Australia has the world's biggest battery and now it will have the world's biggest virtual power plant", he said. Those homes would be knitted together into what is being referred to as a 'virtual power plant'.

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill commented: "More renewable energy means cheaper power for all South Australians".

Sydney seaplane 'should not have been where it was'
The plane crashed shortly after takeoff as it was climbing for a flight south to Sydney following a restaurant lunch. The Australian report said the investigation will consider the issue of stall warning systems.

The rollout will be supported by the state government through a Aus$2 million (US$1.6 million) grant and a Aus$30 million loan from a taxpayer renewable technology fund.

Ultimately, Tesla said it plans to have all 50,000 systems up and running by 2022.

The program has already kicked off, with an initial trial period of 1,100 homes from South Australia's public housing and 24,000 additional homes planned before it opens up to all South Australia residents. Housing Trust is a program for lower-income households.

Despite the recent contraction of the US solar market, the interest put forth by Home Depot, Lowe's and Tesla could finally bring more life into the USA solar market seen in other nations around the world. Tesla would be responsible for the installation of the solar systems and Powerwall 2 home battery packs.
