Hayek detailed her allegations against Weinstein in a December op-ed for The New York Times.

Oprah Winfrey recently chatted with Salma Hayek as part of her Super Soul Sunday Conversation special, when she revealed that her Wrinkle in Time co-star, Reese Witherspoon, was also greatly affected by the Weinstein scandal when it first broke last October.

Over the course of the post-Weinstein reckoning and the #MeToo movement, it's become unfortunately clear that the more gruesome and explicit the details of the assault, the more the victims are believed; take the rare hard evidence of audio of Weinstein doing his best to convince an Italian model to come into his hotel room, or the fact it took the revelation that the director James Toback, whom hundreds of women have accused of sexual misconduct, threatened to gouge Selma Blair's eyes out if she spoke about their encounter that pushed her story into the headlines, months after she first spoke out.

After repeatedly turning him down she said he flew into a terrifying fury, telling her on one occasion: "I will kill you, don't think I can't".

She told Oprah that "I felt like my pain was so small" than others.

She also explained that she had trouble writing the essay. "I started crying when they asked and I ended up not doing it. When it came out, then I was ashamed that I didn't speak up", she expressed. I was supporting women for two decades but I couldn't do this...

The actress Salma Hayek has claimed Harvey Weinstein threatened to "break" her kneecaps during a campaign of abuse she suffered at the hands of the movie producer.

Hayek said, "He told me he wanted to kill me".

During her experience on the Oscar-winning film Frida, Salma alleged that she received unwanted sexual advances from Harvey.

She continued: "Since those around me had no knowledge of my history of Harvey, they were very surprised by my struggle that morning". No, I'm not going to do it. I thought I was the only one.

The Frida star told Winfrey, 64, that she decided it was important to speak out because her pain was "so small" compared to other people's. "I thought, 'There's no point for me to talk because it happens to everyone".

Weinstein has denied all accusations of non-consensual sex but has not yet responded to a request for comment on Hayek's latest claims.

Over the 20 years plus since the movie's success, Ms. Hayek and Mr. Weinstein's daughters have had play dates, their families have enjoyed time together when running into each other on vacations, and the two have had dinners where they pitched and discussed projects such as Ms. Hayek asking Harvey to distribute her movie Evelyn and Mr. Weinstein pitching her a remake of The Lives of Others with Penelope Cruz about a South American dictatorship.

Salma Hayek and Oprah speak onstage during "Oprah's Super Soul Conversations" at The Apollo Theater on February 7, 2018 in NY.
