The top three players who were nominated for the African Player of the Year was Salah from Egypt, teammate Sadio Mane from Senegal who won the award in 2015 and Gabon International and Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Salah helped the Pharaohs end a 28 year wait for an appearance at the World Cup by qualifying for Federation Internationale de Football Association 2018 edition in Russia and he is optimistic the team will do well.
Salah was then joint top-scorer in the final round of qualifiers as Egypt reached the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
