Trump postpones his fake "Fake News Awards"

Trump last week tweeted that he would announce the recipients of the "media awards" Monday.

Cape Town - Channel24 reported earlier this week that fake news king and caustic American president Donald Trump announced he is starting his own Dishonest Media Awards from the White House that he will dish out on the day after this Sunday's upcoming Golden Globe Awards. It's more like that wrestling video in which Trump body-slams a guy with a CNN head-something that will excite his base, which already distrusts the press and loves the president's media-bashing. "Stay tuned!" he said.

Trump latest tweet comes amid a firestorm over an explosive new book about the Trump presidency, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House".

Mr Trump dismissed the book as "phony", adding the author "is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book". Maybe-maybe-there was a chance that we would, for at least a couple minutes, stop paying attention to Donald Trump.

During his tenure as President, Mr Trump has repeatedly claimed the media has been unfair to him.

Mr Trump's awards have been met with widespread mirth with United States talk show hosts offering themselves up for consideration for the awards. The ad cites media outlet Breitbart News calling the show "political propaganda disguised as entertainment" and the New York Post describing it as "monotonous...liberal dogma".

Stephen Colbert also got in on the act, purchasing a billboard in Times Square to make sure he would not get snubbed.
