Exclusively for the Games, the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games Limited Edition will showcase a shiny white back glass to celebrate the winter theme, and gold Olympic rings – inspired by the Olympic Torch – an expression of the Olympic Movement with the union of five continents, and unity worldwide. The handset will have the Olympic logo at the lower back panel and will come preloaded with PyeongChang 2018 themed wallpapers.

The company is one of the main sponsors and as part of that, it is providing more than 4000 personalised Galaxy Note 8 devices to International Olympic Committee staff and the athletes.

This year's Olympics serve as a bit of a homecoming for Samsung as they're being held in South Korea, Samsung's home turf.

While you have virtually no chance of owning this limited edition Galaxy Note 8 organically, being the cynical sort of chap that I am, I'm sure that we'll see some units appearing on eBay at some point in February.

It's hard to believe but the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games are almost upon us.

Svitolina has been dealing with what she called "injury issues" and wasn't sure if she'd be fit enough to play in Melbourne. "This is the future, ladies and gentlemen". "Are you joking?" a Channel 7 commentator said. "This is an incredible story".

Boo and hiss. Samsung said the release marks 20-years as an Olympic partner, while spouting some other guff about helping to spead the Olympic Spirit.

It's now unclear if Samsung has similar plans for its PyeongChang Winter Olympics Note 8. It features a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, and of course, an S Pen stylus.

Starting with the premise that "your phone is useful, but sometimes you need to put it down", Samsung this week introduced a new free app for its Galaxy Note 8 smartphone. But no matter how you slice it, Samsung's decision to gift these limited edition phones to all participating Olympians and staff members is admirable-we are sure those receiving one will be appreciative.

The phablet comes with a rear dual camera setup comprising of two 12MP sensors enabled with LED flash. There is also a 5MP front facing camera with wide angle lens for selfies and video calling.
