Instead of going through just one devastating lapse in the first half, as it has in other games, Iowa actually had two and found itself trailing IL by as much as 20 (49-29) in the opening 20 minutes. Freshman Luka Garza was a non-factor in the first half against IL on Thursday, scoring two points and grabbing five rebounds in 14 minutes.

The Illini have recorded losses in their last two games, falling to Minnesota and MI in that time. It was the fifth time Iowa has rallied from down at least 18 points to pull out a victory. He had played well up until that point, and he was looking for the opportunity.
