Quake of 5.0 Magnitude Shakes Uttarakhand, Delhi, NCR, Punjab

As per IMD, the epicentre of the quake was Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag, with a Magnitude of 5.5 and depth of 30 km. It was measured 5 at the Richter scale. It struck at 8:49 pm, at a depth of 30 kilometres, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

Tremors today were also felt in Roorkee and Dehradun in Uttarakhand and parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

No loss in terms of life or property had been noted and observed in and around Rudraprayag till late night and all other parts of the state.

Uttarakhand comes in an area which is more prone to quake. According to the state government data reported 38 small earthquakes of magnitude 5 or less have occurred in Uttarakhand in the past 2 years which is a matter of big concern for the earth. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand also witnessed heavy snowfall in the hilly regions of the state on Wednesday, bringing the mercury down.

So far there were no reports of any damage or loss of lives in the quake.

The quake struck the region at 20:49 (08:49 pm) at a depth of 30 KM.

A Strong natural disaster tremors were felt in Delhi on Wednesday night.
