Power outage shuts down some rides at Disneyland

Power was down in Toontown, Fantasyland and other rides, according to Disneyland Resort representative Elva Rubalcava.

A power outage at Disneyland caused guests to get stuck on rides Wednesday, and the frustration was aired on social media.

Power was restored to most of the area by noon, although park officials did not give estimates as to when all the rides would be fully functioning. Disneyland is reporting that half the park is affected.

The Disneyland spokesperson told NBC News that the outage was a result of "an issue with a transformer" but did not elaborate.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Oklahoma Sooners football teams are scheduled to visit the park after 2 p.m.

The power outage comes as Disneyland, decorated for the Christmas season, is expected to see holiday crowds. "What's the worst that could happen?" They added that guests are being escorted off "about a dozen" rides, including the popular Monorail. Earlier Wednesday, a warning about wait times was posted on the in-park Twitter feed.
