Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting married in May 2018.

The much-anticipated news was confirmed by the Prince of Wales in a brief statement issued by Clarence House.

The couple will Wednesday in a ceremony at St. George's Chapel, a 15th-century building on the ground of Windsor Castle, about 20 miles west of London, where Queen Elizabeth II lives for part of the year. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

The Queen will be there, as will the rest of the royal family, along with Ms Markle's parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland.

It follows Prince Harry and Markle announcing their engagement in November.

Meghan Markle will also be joining the Queen and other members of the royal family at Sandringham, the Queen's private estate in Norfolk, on Christmas Day.

After their marriage, they will live Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of London's Kensington Palace, the official residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The 33-year-old prince, who is fifth in line to the British throne, and the 36-year-old American actress met through a mutual friend in 2016.
