3 key matchups to watch: Patriots vs Bills

LeSean McCoy gashed New England for 93 yards on 15 carries, and the Bills finished with 183 yards on the ground. That's no longer the case as quarterback Tom Brady has once again been a steadying force for the premier franchise in the current day National Football League and has them sitting at 9-2 heading into a divisional matchup with the Buffalo Bills in Week 13.

Brady and McDaniels have been together for 14 years with the Patriots.

The Patriots offense wasn't explosive but they were playing an inferior opponent and managed to win handily and cover easily.

"I understand what you're getting at there, " McDermott said, referring to Buffalo's struggles against New England.

RB DION LEWIS: On a first half carry, Lewis broke two tackles at the second level and accelerated to the sideline, where he promptly tossed Buffalo safety Jordan Poyer to the ground with a nasty stiff arm. Including field goals, the Patriots are 18 for 18 in the red zone over their last four.

ABOUT THE BILLS (6-5): McDermott wisely went back to Tyrod Taylor at quarterback in Kansas City after the ill-fated decision to bench him for rookie Nathan Peterman, who threw five first-half interceptions in a 54-24 mauling at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Apparently the only person who could stop Gronk on Sunday was himself. The Patriots had scored at least 13 points in the first half of their previous 11 games.

Brady then cited the Bills' most recent game, a 16-10 victory over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Patriots were crunched 41-14 in the 2014 season in a game that sparked Bill Belichick's now-famous "on to Cincinnati" refrain. He was benched after Buffalo managed 99 net yards and four first downs through 55 minutes in a 47-10 loss to New Orleans on November 12. Gronkowski snagged eight passes for 147 yards.

NOTES: Patriots C David Andrews returned to action after missing two games due to illness. Give him credit on the play, but man, what a awful throw by Taylor. Ultimately, keeping the scoreboard clean is more important, but New England can not afford to let potential playoff opponents like Pittsburgh or Kansas City control the clock with an effective ground game.

Kerryon Johnson announced as Auburn's starter in SEC Championship Game
For just the seventh time in the 26-year history of the SEC championship game, the teams also met during the regular season. The team that scored first lost the first five games and won three in a row before falling four of the past six seasons.
