Police are now investigating the incident where a female University of Miami football fan who appears intoxicated, slaps an officer, who retaliates by punching her in the head.

A video depicting a police officer's physical altercation with a fan has caused a stir on social media.

A disturbing video has surfaced from No. 9 Miami's 28-10 win over No. 13 Virginia Tech on Saturday night.

"Promoting a safe and secure environment during any special event is our primary concern", lvaro Zabaleta, a Miami-Dade police detective, told the Independent. She was subsequently arrested for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Disorderly Conduct/Breach of the peace. They say they tried to calm her down and asked her to move to the concourse, but she refused and sat on the steps.
