The first of five Tests starts November 23 in Brisbane.

Ballance was found out by the South Africa quicks and it was a short ball from Morne Morkel that did the damage in Nottingham.

"I made my debut on the last Ashes tour in Sydney, and I'm very much looking forward to the challenge".

"I was on the tram to the Etihad and talking to my wife when I got the buzz on my phone saying it was a voicemail", explained Stoneman, the 30-year-old Durham-raised opener who won his first three Test caps against the West Indies.

To compound the ECB's troubles, influential all-rounder Ben Stokes had been arrested less than 48 hours before the announcement, although he was still named in the squad despite his alleged altercation.

The 26-year-old showed flashes of the class that he has demonstrated time and again for Hampshire over the years on the worldwide stage last year, but a weakness outside off stump was exposed too easily.

Uncapped Somerset seamer Craig Overton, 23, is preferred to Mark Wood, who remains troubled by an ankle injury.

He responded by winning the NBA MVP award, becoming the first player in 55 years to average a triple-double for an entire season.

England's batsmen Joe Root, left, and Gary Ballance compliment each other while batting together in the West Indies in April 2015.

National selector James Whitaker said of Vince's inclusion: "The selectors are backing him to make an impact on his recall to the Test squad".

"Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be considered for selection for England worldwide matches until further notice", the European Central Bank statement said. This season Vince is averaging a modest 34.82 in first-class cricket for Hampshire but England believe his game will be suited to Australian pitches. "He has the ability to contribute with the bat scoring over 680 runs in the Championship this summer at an average of 45.33", James Whitaker stated.

England will name their Lions squad to tour Australia on Monday and, on Wednesday, their ODI squad for the Australia tour, plus the latest round of central contracts.

Ballance started the first two Tests of the summer against South Africa, but a broken finger took him out of a squad that he didn't get back into.

Also, there are three new faces in the squad namely Ben Foakes, Craig Overton, and Mason Crane.

In addition to the current full-time members of staff, former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond was appointed fast bowling consultant and will be part of the England management up to the end of the second Test in Australia. Former England one-day captain Paul Collingwood will also take a coaching role during the Test and subsequent one-day series.
