Dragon Quest XI Coming West In 2018: Platforms To Be Announced

Although no platforms were officially named, Dragon Quest XI will be releasing outside of Japan next year.

Speaking in a special video message to celebrate the announcement, Dragon Quest series creator, Yuji Horii, also introduces an overview of the game and offers an update on the games localisation process.

No specific date other than 2018 has been given for the global release of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

The company is also looking to Detroit for a possible manufacturing plant , though the sources did not specify for what. The investment in the facility by Foxconn will cost $10 billion and will be constructed somewhere in Wisconsin.

More details about the Western version will be revealed in Autumn 2017.

In a new video, the veteran developer announces that the game will be translated into five languages, including English. Last Fall also saw the release of spin-off title Dragon Quest Builders, which combined the traditional RPG with Minecraft-style gameplay and world building.

With 30 years of history, you'd be hard-pressed to find an American fan who knows the ins and outs of Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest XI will be available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, now it is unclear on which version (s) of the title will be coming to Western markets. The Slimefather promises we'll see Dragon Quest XI as soon as possible, but the localization team has its work cut out for them.
