Scott Pelley will become a full-time correspondent for 60 MINUTES, according to CBS News.

Pelley began working at the "CBS Evening News" nearly exactly six years ago, succeeding Katie Couric.

"Sources tell us that "Poison Pelley's" office was being cleared out Tuesday while the anchor was away on an assignment for the network's news magazine '60 Minutes, '" The Post reported.

Anthony Mason, who co-anchors "CBS This Morning: Saturday" will serve as interim anchor of the evening news broadcast. "So has his dedication to consequential reporting", said Jeff Fager, Executive Producer of 60 MINUTES.

Pelley devote his full attention to the venerable Sunday show, which, is revving up to celebrate its 50th anniversary and which, starting next month, will have NBC competition in the form of a Megyn Kelly-hosted newsmag when that network's football schedule permits. "CBS has been great to me for almost 30 years". But in a reflection of television news' changed circumstances, other CBS personalities like O'Donnell or "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson are not expected to be candidates.

The evening news won't be the same without Scott Pelley on CBS Evening News. Pelley has lost 9 percent of his audience despite the sudden interest in the news.

Scott Pelley is reportedly not being brought back at CBS Evening News, Page Six reports. The New York Post's Page Six broke the story of Pelley's ouster Tuesday night.

Pelley gave the program stability - most notably during a period when Brian Williams was forced off "Nightly News" at NBC and Diane Sawyer left ABC's "World News". CBS didn't formally announce anything.

A source said, "Pelley asked for the curtains of his office to be opened, so everyone in the news division could see, as the boxes from office were lined up outside with his Texas home address on them".

Evening news programs were long considered to be the major broadcasts for network news, however the infiltration of live news on demand through the internet and 24-hour cable news networks undermined their importance and the audience count went down in the recent years.
