A few months ago he was found guilty on an abundance of charges, 29 in total, including kidnapping, battery by strangulation, coercion, and sexual assault, among others. Mack suffered with a broken nose, missing teeth, fractured eye socket and leg injuries. He also threatened to kill her. Koppenhaver was arrested in California after a week-long manhunt.
The assault in question happened on August 8th, 2014 when War Machine broke into Mack's house and discovered her and Thomas together.
Barring parole, War Machine will be in jail for the rest of his life for his assault of ex-girlfriend Christy Mack and her boyfriend Corey Thomas.
Mack made a plea to the court during the sentencing hearing, saying, "I do know that when he gets out he will kill me".
"I would really like to say to everyone that they can trust in the justice system", Mackinday said (via MMA Fighting). "There's no reason right now that I shouldn't be in the dirt right now laying next to Aaron Hernandez".
Ariana Grande gives moving speech to people of Manchester
Grande canceled upcoming shows in London and Switzerland to prepare for Sunday's " One Love Manchester " concert. So obviously, we had a totally different show planned, then we had a rehearsal yesterday and changed everything.
One day, when enough time has passed, and when your wounds are fully healed, I hope that you will write to me, or, perhaps, even visit me, so that I can apologize completely, and so that I can tell you about all that I have found in regard to god. "And to top it off, something's not right with my head".
Defense: I know the court doesn't want to do this again, but we should have been able to use this defense.
"I think that the jury obviously felt that no matter what you have in your past or what you may have been involved with, you don't deserve a beating like she got", he told The News. I've hated my impulses.
Mackinday's mother, Erin Mackinday, said she will probably never know half of what happened to her daughter.
Koppenhaver, whose last MMA fight was in 2013, said the life sentence he faced behind bars was not "too high a price" for his actions, and begged for Mack's forgiveness.
