At Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm was unveiled, and its first episode is coming on August 31.

They added it will focus on the relationship between Chloe and Rachel Amber - two characters who are central to the storyline of Life Is Strange.

"The original LIFE IS STRANGE brought a new level of depth and real-world emotion to the narrative adventure game genre and holds a strong place in many people's hearts, including our own", said Jeff Litchford, Vice President at Deck Nine Games. This new series is by Deck Nine Games and Square Enix - it is not made by DONTNOD. It is a short game with only three episodes.

Two years ago, Square Enix and Dontnod Entertainment caught gamers by surprise with Life is unusual, an episodic game that placed players in the role of Max, a teenage girl whose ability to change time created unexpected consequences.

The last words are important as it hints that the other Life Is Strange won't star Max as the main character. This time around, the younger Chloe will be voiced by Rhianna DeVries, with Chloe's original voice actor, Ashly Burch, taking on writing duties.

At just over a minute and 30 seconds long, the quick edit of scenes in the new trailer didn't reveal much of the plot. This is not the follow-up from original developers DONTNOD Entertainment announced, but rather a three-part miniseries from Deck Nine Games.
