Dr. Jack Sava, trauma director at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, says several operations have controlled the bleeding and Scalise's vital signs have stabilized.

President Donald Trump thanked the members of Congress and others for supporting the Congressional Baseball Game with a recorded statement played at Nationals Park Thursday night. Scalise was reported to have been tended to by Rep. Brad Wenstrup of OH, a US Army Reserve doctor who served in Iraq, before his treatment at the hospital.

Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who was at Wednesday's practice and gave medical help after the shooting, said it would have "been awful" if the game had been canceled, and said Scalise would want it to go on.

The gunman, identified by authorities as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson from Belleville, Illinois, was killed in a gunfight with Capitol Hill police officers during the attack. His social media contained anti-Trump and anti-Republican posts.

"The guy's down to a handgun, he dropped his rifle, they shoot him, I go over there, they put him in handcuffs", Conaway said, adding that if the shooter had "gotten inside the fence, where a bunch of guys were holed up in the dugout, it would have been like shooting fish in a barrel".

Colleagues said Scalise, who had been fielding balls at second base, dragged himself away from the infield, leaving a trail of blood before they rushed to his assistance. Scalise remains in critical condition in a Washington, D.C. hospital following yesterday's early morning attack during a GOP team baseball practice in Arlington, Virginia.

Trump says Scalise "continues his very fearless fight", but adds: "it's been much more hard than people even thought at the time".

Scalise has played in several congressional baseball games, including last year's 8-7 Republican victory.

The wife of wounded GOP congressman Steve Scalise says she is thankful for all the prayers and warm wishes her family has received since her husband was shot at a baseball practice.

Atari may re-release classic Atari console
I realize that's not enough detail to form an opinion but the fact is there's only so many different things this could be. Last week, Atari released a brief teaser below that mentions "A brand new Atari product" with "Years in the making".

"The. ways they could do that is you've ever been treated by a mental physician or in a mental hospital, or you've been convicted of a felony, or have been convicted of domestic battery", said Wagner.

Lucee Laursen of La Crosse, Wisconsin, interning in the capital for a nonprofit, said, "It's showing that we might have differences in political spheres but we come together for a good cause".

Scalise "is under heavy sedation, and he's been in surgery, I think, all of the three times I've been there", Richmond said.

Among others, Republican Representative Steve King wrote on Twitter that "violence is incited by the leading cultural voices of the Left" and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich cited an "increasing hostility on the left".

The doctor said U.S. Capitol Police Special Agent Crystal Griner, who was also wounded in the shooting, "sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle, and remains hospitalized in good condition".

Republicans and Democrats sat in different parts of the park - fans could state their party preference when buying tickets.

Because Scalise is a member of House leadership, Capitol Police were present at the field.

Congressional aide Zach Barth was the fourth person hit and is also expected to make a full recovery, NPR's Vanessa Romo reports.

In the history of the contest, Republicans and Democrats each have won 39 games with one tie.
