WORLDWIDE EXCLUSIVE: @TomCruise just confirmed that Top Gun 2 is happening!

Cruise is now in Australia promoting the release of the latest film in The Mummy franchise, which hits cinemas on June 8. But he was bombarded with even more questions past year about the possibility of a sequel as fans celebrated the 30th anniversary of the film. Early past year, fans got a Top Gun tease when Bruckheimer shared a photo of himself with Cruise, apparently after a discussion about the sequel.

Tom Cruise has certainly never been shy about his interest in a second Top Gun movie. Cruise played Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, while the film also starred Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, and Tom Skerritt. The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Take My Breath Away" performed by Berlin.
